Main Function

The Foreman is responsible for supervising Oilers, Wipers and Engine Boys in cooperation with the Staff Engineer, ensuring proper maintenance and cleanliness of the Engine Department onboard.
Supports the Staff Engineer in all activities related to engine operations, maintenance procedures and safe working practices according to company standards.

Qualifications

  • Fluent oral and written English (working & Safety language of the Company).
  • Minimum 2 years of successful experience in a similar position onboard Cruise Ships.
  • Valid STCW certificates
  • Valid Seaman Book and all required travel documentation.
  • Secondary School Graduate with appropriate licenses as required by the company.
  • Basic knowledge of international sanitation standards and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Physically fit for shipboard duties and emergency procedures.
  • MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consult daily with the Staff Engineer regarding maintenance procedures and operational activities of the Engine Department.
  • Assign maintenance and repair duties to engine personnel and supervise overhaul and repair work.
  • Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure proper performance according to company standards.
  • Supervise the safe use of materials, tools and equipment during maintenance operations.
  • Monitor proper garbage disposal according to international and company regulations.
  • Prepare requisitions for Engine Department stores and spare parts for approval by the Staff Engineer.
  • Maintain inventory control of materials, spare parts and equipment to prevent wastage and damage.
  • Train engine personnel, especially new crew members, in safe working practices.
  • Ensure all subordinates understand their duties and maintain established performance standards.
  • Work according to safety procedures and injury prevention rules at all times.
